Sour cream mashed potatoes have soft potatoes mashed with sour cream and butter. This Thanksgiving side dish has a creamy smooth texture and can also be enjoyed as a dip. It's flavored with basic seasoning spices like salt and pepper. It's topped with butter and pepper to add more flavors to this dish.

3 pounds Yukon Gold Potatoes (peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces) 6 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (cut into pieces, plus more for serving) ¾ cup Sour Cream ¾ cup Whole Milk ¼ teaspoon Kosher Salt ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
Boil the potatoes in a large pot containing lightly salted (2 teaspoons) water.
Reduce the heat as the water in the pot starts boiling and let the potatoes simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes.
Drain the potatoes when they're tender and return to the potatoes to the pot.
Mash the potatoes in the pot and add melted butter, sour cream, and milk to it.
Season them with salt and pepper and mix them until they’re smooth and creamy. Top with butter and pepper and serve.
