Amritsari fish is an Indian street food item. It is made by marinating fish in spices, then covering it in gram flour batter and deep-frying it. It goes great with mint chutney and is a great snack.
In a bowl, take gram flour, cornflour, chat masala, salt, red chili powder, garam masala, carom seeds, baking soda (food color goes with it) and egg. Mix it all.
Now, start adding water slowly and mixing it to form a batter. The batter should have a medium-thick consistency.
Marinating the fish
Cut the fish in thin slices.
Place the fish in a bowl and add lemon juice and salt to it.
Leave it for 30 minutes to marinade.
Cooking the fish
Now, dip the marinated fish in the above-made batter.
In a preheated pan, heat 3 cups of oil.
Then, on a medium flame, add the fish dipped in batter to the pan.
Cook the fish from both sides until crispy.
Place the fish on a plate and sprinkle chat masala on it.
Serve hot with pudina chutney.
