Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Bowl
  • Knife
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces Cherries, fresh or frozen
  • ½ cup  Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • ½ cup Water

Instructions

  • Gather your ingredients. If using fresh cherries, wash them properly and remove the stems and pits.
  • Take a saucepan. Add cherries, water, and granulated sugar to it. If using frozen cherries, add just half the amount of water, to begin with.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat and keep stirring often.
  • In a small bowl, stir together cornstarch and the lemon juice until smooth. Add the cornstarch mixture to the boiling cherry mixture and whisk.
  • Cook the cherry sauce for about a minute until the liquid has thickened. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Taste the cherry sauce and add a little extra sugar or lemon juice if needed.
  • Allow the sauce to cool before using it.
