Pecan pie is a staple for holidays like Thanksgiving. But, pecan pie spiked with bourbon tastes much better than what you would imagine it to! This bourbon pecan pie recipe is marvelous and surely worth a try for everyone who loves Bourbon!

Ingredients
  

For The Pie Crust

  • 1 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 6 tablespoons Butter
  • 3 tablespoons Shortening
  • 4 tablespoons Cold Water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • Dried Beans

For The Filling

  • 2 1/2 cups Whole Pecan Halves
  • 5 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2/3 cup Corn Syrup
  • 1/2 cup Golden Syrup
  • 3 no. Eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions
 

For The Pie Crust

  • Add flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl and add the cold butter and shortening to it.
  • Gently start rubbing the butter and shortening into the flour with your fingertips, making sure all of it gets incorporated.
  • Once it is all rubbed in, the flour should have a sand-like texture. Then, add in the cold water and mix everything together till it forms a rough ball.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it a few times, until the dough is smooth.
  • As the dough reaches the desired texture, wrap it in plastic and let it chill in the refrigerator for 45 minutes.
  • Once the dough is done resting, transfer it to a floured surface and roll it out till it reaches 12 inches in diameter.
  • Carefully place the dough into the pie pan and make sure that all of it is touching the pan, cut off the excess on the sides with a paring knife.
  • Push the sides inwards with your fingers to crimp them, all around. As you are done with the crimping, place the pie pan in the refrigerator and let the dough chill for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Take the pie crust out of the refrigerator and and place parchment paper in it. Fill it with beans and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Once the crust is out of the oven, let it cool down for sometime.

For The Filling

  • Add butter to a saucepan and let it brown. Once it has browned, transfer it to a large bowl and let it cool.
  • Once the butter has cooled down, add in the brown sugar, golden syrup and corn syrup and whisk until everything is combined.
  • Lastly, add in the eggs, bourbon, vanilla and salt and mix again. Once done, cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and keep it aside.

Assembling The Pie

  • Once the pie crust is baked and the filling is ready, you can start assembling the pie.
  • Preheat the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Add the pecan halves into the pie crust, with the rough side facing on top.
  • Pour in the filling and transfer onto a baking tray.
  • Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes.
  • Once the pie is ready, take it out of the oven and let it cool down thoroughly, then, slice and serve with your favorite toppings!
