Tim Hortons, also known as Timmies or Tim’s, is a Canadian fast-food restaurant chain. It is known to serve its customers delicious coffee, donuts, croissants, muffins, bagels, danishes, cookies, etc.
In 2014, Burger King decided to buy Tim Hortons, hence, making Tim Hortons a subsidiary of Restaurant Brands International (RBI). It has locations on three major continents – North America, Europe, and Asia. Tim Hortons has over 5,100 stores worldwide.
Planning for further expansion in Asia, Tim Hortons has announced that it’ll be opening its first location in India. This fast-food restaurant chain will then stand in competition with Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks in India.
India would be the brand’s fourth location in the Asia Pacific. The first Tim Hortons has been reported to open in Delhi NCR and is expected to open around the months of June and July.
The former Tata Starbucks CEO, Gurnaney, in an interview, said, “We’re going to build at least 120 stores in the next three years and quickly get to 250-300 in five years.”
The president of RBI, David Shear, said, “The delicious premium quality coffee and fresh food that guests around the world have grown to crave from Tim Hortons will be coming to India, marking this launch as a critical step in our international expansion plans.”
The market for tea and coffee chains in India is said to cross the goal of ₹4,500 crores by 2023. Given the popularity and success of retail coffee chains, India is the perfect location for Tim Hortons to further expand and flourish.
