What Ingredients Will You Need To Make Sherry Sauce?

  • Dry Sherry – Sherry wine is a fortified wine made from white grapes that are grown in Spain. Although you can drink it, dry sherry is widely used for cooking as it adds flavor to sauces.
  • Shallots – For this recipe, we will use minced shallots. They boost the flavor of this sauce.
  • Heavy Cream – Heavy cream is used to make sherry sauce as it gives it a creamy base. This ingredient increases the overall flavor and texture.
  • Dijon Mustard – Dijon Mustard hardly needs any introduction. It comes with sharp, tangy, and strong flavors. We will require only one teaspoon of Dijon mustard.
  • Tarragon – For this recipe, we will use ½ teaspoon of fresh chopped tarragon. It is a highly aromatic herb having a subtle licorice flavor.

1. Simmer Dry Sherry With Sauteed Shallots

Take a saucepan and melt the butter in it over medium heat. Add minced shallots to the saucepan and sauté them until they start to turn brown. Now pour in dry sherry and scrape up any brown bits on the bottom of the pan. Let the liquid simmer until it has reduced by half.

2. Pour In Heavy Cream & Dijon Mustard

Add the heavy cream and Dijon mustard and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens. Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Stir in tarragon and serve.
