- 2 Envelopes Active Dry Yeast
- 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 5 3/4 Cups All-Purpose Flour (plus more for kneading)

- 1 Large Egg Beaten with 1 Tablespoon Of Water
- Flaky Salt, Such As Maldon
- Yellow Mustard (for serving)

Steps To Make Pretzel Sticks
- Take a large bowl and dissolve brown sugar in 2 cups of warm water with stirring. Sprinkle yeast over this water and let it stand until it gets foamy. This will take 5 minutes.
- Add 3 cups of flour and vegetable oil to this activated yeast. Knead it with the remaining 2 ¾ cups flour. The prepared dough will be sticky slightly.
- Knead this dough again on a floured surface until silky in texture. This may take 3 minutes. If the dough is sticky, knead with the help of ¼ cup of flour. In a large greased bowl, transfer this dough and cover it with plastic wrap. Let it rest at room temperature until it gets doubled. It may take 45 minutes.
- Set the oven on preheat to 450 degrees. Take 3 large cookie sheets and line it with parchment paper. Butter the parchment paper. Now, punch down the dough and place it on a floured surface. Knead it lightly to flatten it. Cut 24 pieces out of it. Roll each piece into 9 inch stick with a thickness of ½ inch. Place these sticks onto the cookie sheets with 2 inches gap between them. Let them rest for 25 minutes until they get puffed.
- Take a large deep skillet and pour 2 quarts of water in it with baking soda and boil it over high heat. Reduce the flame to medium. Add 6 pretzel sticks to this water using 2 slotted spoons for 30 seconds. Turn them once. Add 1 cup of boiling water before cooking the second batch. Transfer the pretzels to a paper towel and return them back to the cookie sheet.
- Brush egg wash on each stick and sprinkle with salt. Bake them for 10 minutes or until they turn brown.
- Serve them warm with mustard.
