Equipments Required

  • A Large Saucepan: You will need a large-sized, heavy-bottomed saucepan to boil the eggs. Make sure that it is big enough so that your eggs are cooked evenly.
  • Slotted Spoon: This equipment is a perfect fit for gently putting the eggs into boiling water and then removing them after they are cooked.
  • Bowls: You will need a couple of mixing bowls to put the boiled eggs into the ice water and mix the yolk filling, respectively.
  • Wire Balloon Whisk or Fork: This tool comes handy to break down the yolks and blending them with the other ingredients.
  • Pastry Bag: I advise you to keep a pastry bag to pipe the yolk filling back into the egg whites. If you don’t have a pastry bag, you can also use a spoon.
  • Sharp Knife: I use a sharp knife to cut the eggs neatly.
  • Cutting Board: I prefer using a cutting board as it cleans up easy.

Recipe Variations For Different Diets

Vegan And Vegetarian Diet: If you are someone following a vegan or a vegetarian diet then you can substitute the egg yolks with silken tofu, mashed avocado, tempeh, seitan or legumes and vegan mayonnaise or Greek yogurt for regular mayonnaise.

Along with it, you can replace egg whites with boiled potatoes or make a mixture of plant based milk with plant based gelatin and set it in egg shaped moulds for the filling.

Storing And Reheating This Recipe

Storing

  • Room Temperature: I generally keep deviled eggs on a plate covered with a plastic wrap at room temperature if I wish to consume them with in an hour. After this time frame they should be refrigerated immediately to prevent spoilage.
  • Refrigerate: After making the deviled eggs, I put them into an airtight container. I make sure to lay them in a single layer so that they do not get squashed or messy. Then I carefully put the container in the fridge right away where it can be stored for up to 2 days.

Reheating

  • Warm Water Bath: To reheat deviled eggs, I grab a dish and fill it with warm water. Then I take out the deviled eggs and put them in warm water for 15 minutes. This trick warms the eggs without cooking them or messing with texture.
  • Microwave: You can also heat your egg in a microwave. Just grab a microwave safe plate and put the devil eggs on it. Cover them with a microwave safe lid and heat them on medium-low setting. This will heat the eggs just perfectly without them turning rubbery.

What To Serve With This Recipe

Whenever I serve these deviled eggs, I place them on a beautiful plate garnished with herbs like parsley or dill that adds colour and freshness to the dish. Then, I also place some colourful veggies like cherry tomatoes, cucumber and radish slices around them to make the dish visually appealing. But that’s not all!

They also make a great pairing with sandwiches such as Ham Sandwiches and Turkey Clubs. Moreover, if you love seafood then you can have it with Grilled Shrimps and Crab Cakes. I also like to serve these deviled eggs with southern classics like Biscuits or Cornbread.
