Expert Tips That I Recommend
- Simmering the sauce for longer will give you a better texture. This also helps all the flavors to meld together evenly.
- Instead of sautéing the onion and garlic, you can try caramelizing them at a low temperature for a longer time for a more robust flavor.
- Ensure you do not overcook the sauce, as its high sugar content can easily burn. So, it is better to cook the sauce as needed and use low or medium heat.
- I always splash some homemade pork or beef bone broth for a stronger flavor.

Storing And Reheating This Recipe
Storing
- In The Refrigerator: I usually store my sauce there. You too can do the same by transferring your sauce to an airtight container or vacuum-sealed jar and placing it in the refrigerator. This way, it stays fresh for up to 1-2 months.
- In The Freezer: I don’t usually store this sauce in the freezer, and I wouldn’t recommend it as the preferred storage option. But if you really need to, you can pack the sauce in an airtight container or vacuum-sealed jar and keep it in the freezer. The sauce will easily last for up to 3 months.
Reheating
- Stovetop Method: I recommend adding your sauce to a saucepan and stirring over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, or until hot.
- In the Microwave: I transfer the sauce to a microwave-safe dish and heat it at the highest setting for about 30 seconds. I stir the sauce at regular intervals and heat it for longer if needed.
- In the Oven: I suggest transferring the sauce to an oven-based bowl, placing it in the oven at 250 F, and reheating it for about 10-15 minutes until piping hot.

Are the onions and garlic sautéed in olive oil or butter? Didn’t see that mentioned anywhere…
So, basically i have dry roasted onion and garlic just to enhance the flavor of sauce to give it more nutty taste to my sauce but you can saute it in olive oil or butter, it is also a great option. You can also go with dry garlic powder and onion powder to add more flavor to the sauce.
Not good
Thank you for your feedback! I am sorry to hear it didn’t turn out as expected for you. Sometimes the flavor can be affected by small changes in ingredient amounts, even a little too much vinegar, sugar, or spice can alter the balance of the sauce. If it tasted too tangy, you can add a bit more brown sugar or honey to balance it out. If it was too sweet, a splash of apple cider vinegar or a pinch of salt can help. And if the flavor seemed too strong overall, letting it simmer a little longer can help everything blend together more smoothly.
