Egg bagels basically originated in Poland. But they are better than normal bagels and I came to know about this recipe during my visit to Poland. I had these yummy egg bagels at the hotel I was staying at. I surfed the internet for the recipe because that really made me crave more for these bagels. They are really spongey and delicious.

To make egg bagels, add yeast in water and dissolve it properly. Then, add salt and sugar and mix them properly. In another bowl, beat eggs and add this to the yeast mixture. Then, add flour to this bowl to make it smooth dough, knead it, make small balls. Boil for few minutes then, brush them with yolks, sprinkle with sesame and poppy seeds. Then, bake them for 30 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ tsp Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup Warm Water
  • tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Egg yolk
  • 4 cups Flour
  • ½ cup Sesame seeds
  • ½ cup Poppy seeds

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, add water and yeast and dissolve it properly. To this, add salt and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar and mix them properly.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and stir them in the yeast bowl.
  • Then, add 4 cups of flour and make it a smooth thin dough.
  • Knead it for 10 to 15 minutes and make sure that your dough is not sticky. Cover it, then set it aside for about an hour to rise.
