It compliments best with various types of meat like chicken, turkey, pork and ham. This sauce is the best blend of sweetness and tanginess.

Cranberry sauce gives a lightness to Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner and it adds a delectable flavour. I wouldn’t say I like canned cranberry sauce after I made this sauce at home. I hope you give it a try as it is a super easy recipe to make.

The required ingredients are very basic and easily available in any supermarket. However, you might be able to get everything even in your home itself except for the fresh batch of cranberries.

So now, search in your pantry to fetch them all and get started as it is quite an easy recipe and doesn’t take much time. It will be loved at home. Let’s grab all the ingredients and follow the instructions.

Cranberry Sauce Recipe

  1. Take a saucepan to it add sugar, orange juice and water. Boil it over a medium flame. Stir it till the sugar dissolves.
  2. To this mixture, add rest of the ingredients – cranberries, salt, cinnamon stick and orange peel.
  3. Stir it continuously over medium flame. 
  4. Cook it until all or most of the cranberries have popped. It should take 10 minutes.
  5. Let it cool down for minimum 30 minutes. 
  6. Cover and refrigerate until the sauce is ready to use.

I like to leave a handful of berries whole in the sauce. The orange and cinnamon in cranberry sauce gives it more depth of flavours and sweetens it. This can be served hot, warm, room temperature, or cold. It tastes best after a day or two.

NOTE – You can store the sauce for few days by refrigerating it.
