We all know that the hospitality industry has become a cutthroat one. Some people are considerate of the people who make and serve them food. But then there is also a big chunk of the population that likes to give the employees a hard time.
One common thing that customers like to do is give a low rating. Sometimes it’s because of a genuine reason, but sometimes it is completely out of spite.
‘The customer is always right’ is a myth long busted. In today’s age of cancel culture, people can cancel you over the smallest thing, or in this case, give you a 1-star rating.
With the Covid-19 pandemic extending for more than two years, the fast-food industry has taken a hit. It also left many people without jobs. So, obviously, there’d be a shortage of servers at many restaurants.
Normally, this should lead to empathy for the people working with minimum resources. But alas, some people don’t know this world and want their food super fast. If their terms and conditions are not met, they’ll pull out their weapon and threaten with a low rating.
A low rating usually doesn’t end great for the employee. Even if there are no big consequences, it always leaves you in a bitter mood. So, it is great to see someone develop thick skin when it comes to matters like these.
This is the case with a Chick-Fil-A employee who had a great and hilarious response to a customer’s 1-star rating. Well, I have been told I am a great storyteller. So, let me tell you what happened.
The 1-Star Rating and The Response
As I said, many fast-food locations are short on staff which leads to a slower service (less hands, less work). So, like any normal person (not!), a customer posted a picture with an employee in the background and gave the restaurant the dreaded 1-star rating. Reason? Slow service! (Oh, for the love of God!)
The papped employee was none other than a 16-year-old who goes by the name @saulpur on TikTok. Now, usually, this goes two ways. One is an apology video, and the other is a bitter Twitter fight.
But @saulpur decided to take the high road and turn this bad encounter into a viral and funny TikTok.
Instead of focusing on the downside of the situation, the teen decided to focus on their downside. They captioned the video with an iconic line from ‘Euphoria’ (I can’t help you if you don’t know Euphoria. Zendaya got an Emmy and everything).
The line in question, “They could’ve at least edited my booty to look bigger.”
This quick-witted response made many people laugh. Many also felt the empathy we talked about. Some comments include, “Working fast food is brutal omg” and “Y’all working on something, does [the reviewer] not see that?? Be patient.”
Many people lauded @saulpur’s humorous take on the situation. In the end, everybody agreed that all should practice empathy and patience.
Also, a little humor is always greater than a foul mood. So, the next time the service is slow, just take a deep breath. The employees are probably doing their best. Bye-bye!
